In my line of work I do get to have fun, and one such example was a recent photo shoot I took part in, for Kinky Boots The Musical.
As part of the social media campaign, The Michael Cassel Group gathered a group of Aussie identities together to strap on the production’s actual boots, in the name of equality and diversity. The tag line was simply #JustBe
Partnering with Beyond Blue, The Michael Cassel Group got politicians, models, TV stars, comedians and yes, even journalists, to stand proudly in the Kinky Boots with the message #JustBe who you are!
With the recent tragedies around the world, we need more than ever to be ourselves, respect one another and spread happiness.
And what better way than with those sparkling red boots!
There are undoubtedly some great feel-good musicals around, from the classics to the contemporary, the fringe to the jukebox and those that leap from the screen to the stage (once upon a time it was the reverse!)
In terms of the later, audiences can soon look forward to Kinky Boots strutting its way into Australia.
Based on a true story, with music by Cyndi Lauper, book by Harvey Fierstein and vibrant choreography by Jerry Mitchell, this musical has been wowing audiences around the world – with every conceivable award to boot! (get it? Boot!)
Now it’s time to switch the gum boots for Kinky Boots! If you’re not sure how well they accessorise, check out the images from our photoshoot, especially Nick Bracks and Tara Moss!
It all starts in October and to find out more visit: @KinkyBootsOz & Kinkybootsthemusical.com.au
And remember to #JustBe
