Since appearing on The Bachelor, Thomas Malucelli has been embracing life and influencing others to do the same! I got to chat with the handsome devil!
How has life changed since you were The Bachelor?
Thomas Malucelli: The Bachelor has given me a spotlight where I’m now noticed for the work I’ve done prior, and it’s been very fulfilling. In terms of romance, life has changed a lot. When I was on The Bachelor, I realised I still had many things to work on and being on the show helped me find them. So, I did some inner work which included dating and I found my partner Georgia.
And you met through her podcast?
Yes, she has a podcast called Life Chats. I was made aware of her podcast through my publicist and when I went on as a guest, Georgia and I had a beautiful hour of cool conversations. She’s into the same things as me like health, fitness and spirituality. Before I met Georgia, I was going on so many dates, but I couldn’t quite find a connection. I met some incredible women, but I was after that magic spark. I thought I’d have to resign to living with a cat and a dog!
Once you’ve been The Bachelor, do you become part of a fraternity where you all keep in contact?
Yes, a few of them reached out after the show had finished. We’ve had some catchups over lunch, and I’ve become very close with the latest Bachelor Wesley Senna Cortes. I also have group chats with the other two bachelors from the same season as me (Jed McIntosh and Felix Von Hofe), and now and then I see Jimmy Nicholson and Tim Robards.
“A lot of gay men mistake me for being gay, and this particular night many were pinching my butt!”
You’re a fitness champion, media personality, model, writer, wellness coach, speaker, and creator. How do you work all that?
(Laughing) They are all my passions. I worked in hospitality for many years including in Italy where I grew up in restaurants. I travelled to America, England and Australia, but unfortunately, I eventually took on unhealthy habits such as drinking alcohol at night, eating unhealthy foods and partying on the weekend. I got to a point where I was struggling with my mental health, and I was unhappy with my body. My relationship at the time was also not going well. I reached a day in 2017 when I couldn’t get out of bed. I was exhausted and decided I had to draw a line in the sand, and I did! I started working out and took care of my nutrition.
Is that when you got into the IsaBody Challenge?
Yes, it’s a sixteen-week challenge and I became an IsaBody champion for Australia. I then went on to America to become the first global champion. I’m very proud of that! I developed new passions about health and wellness, and helping people feel good. So many people knew the old Thomas who was always exhausted and partied hard, but they saw me transform and wanted to know how. Showing people how I did it was a lot more fulfilling than serving customers in a restaurant. That became my new trajectory in life, and I’ve been evolving ever since.
“She had the biggest penis I ever saw in my life!”
Do you have gay mates?
Many! One of my best gay friends is Ben Hudson who is also the drag queen Gingzilla. We’ve gone out clubbing many times. One night in London we were at an Eighties disco night and…a lot of gay men mistake me for being gay, and this night particular night many were making advances and pinching my butt. I was like, “I’m straight!” And they were, “No you’re not!” But Ben told them to leave me alone because I was with him, and they did! It was quite hilarious. My gosh, when gay guys want something, they just go for it!
Have you ever had a gay experience?
The closest I’ve had was when I was eighteen in Italy and working a summer job at a restaurant. One afternoon between shifts Honcho, a Dutch colleague, and I went back to his apartment and smoked a joint together. He was beautiful looking and as we got talking, I said, “Honcho! You are so handsome!” and he returned the compliment. We looked each other in the eyes and almost went in for the kiss, but I stopped myself. It just didn’t happen! (Laughing).
That could have been your one experience!
Well, there was another when I was in Ibiza. I left a club at six in the morning with two friends, after seeing David Guetta. We were all very horny and as we awaited our cab, I saw two beautiful ladies winking at me. We started talking to them, hit it off and they asked us back to their apartment. I was, “Hell yeah! Let’s go!” When I got there, I went into the bedroom with the one I liked and started making out. She took off her clothes and started going down on me, but I noticed she left her skirt across her thighs. She said, “Fuck me Italian stallion!,” took the skirt away and she had the biggest penis I ever saw in my life! I was in shock! I gave her a goodbye kiss on the cheek and left. I guess you can call that a gay experience!
Who would you turn gay for?
David Beckham. I’ve loved him since I was young. I’m one of his biggest football fans and love what he’s done with fashion. – and he’s very handsome.
So if you and David shared ‘that’ look into each other’s eyes, you’d go in for the kiss?
(Laughing) Eventually, yes.
You also work as a DJ. What’s your irresistible burn-the-floor song?
I love Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! by ABBA. Whenever I play that, people go crazy. But there’s also a more recent remix called Gimme! Gimme! By DJ Dmoll – the After Midnight Remix. It’s such a vibe! I also like Madonna’s Like a Prayer and My Love by Route 94 (Jess Glynne).
“One of my best gay friends is Ben Hudson who is also the drag queen Gingzilla.”
Who’s your favourite music diva?
Growing up I was obsessed with Britney Spears, but I changed to Lady Gaga. I love her voice, it’s so powerful. My favourite song is Paparazzi. It’s great to sing along with and I love Shallow from A Star Is Born.
What’s been the biggest pinch-yourself moment in your career?
I’ve recently finished writing my own book titled Swipe to Soulmate. The idea came from my past suffering and the lessons I’ve taken. I decided to write about it to share with other people and when I completed it, I thought, “I’ve done it!”. I’m hoping to have it published by February 2025 in time for Valentine’s Day.
Do you have a favourite quote?
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t – you’re right”, by Henry Ford. Lots of people say to me, “Thomas, once I see it, I’ll believe it”. But that’s the problem. If you don’t believe it, you won’t see it!
Do you have a grooming tip?
I get asked how my hair always looks good. I wash it as normal and afterwards spray it with salt spray, then add a bit of liquid wax before drying it. It gives it that beachy, matt effect but still stays shiny and strong. Of course, it’s the same when you swim in the actual ocean. I’ll dry off afterwards in the sun and think “Damn, I feel good!” The vitamin D from the sun gives you a double whammy!
What’s been your most memorable wardrobe malfunction?
I once went on a date to a girl’s house, and we started getting into things on the couch. I was in my underwear and suddenly, a man burst in and started yelling at her in Portuguese. Then he started asking me, “What are you doing with my wife?” She argued back, “Your ex-wife!” I quickly apologised, told him to ask her all the questions and just like in the movies, I grabbed my clothes and left in my underwear. I got dressed next to my motorbike!
On that note, are you into briefs, fitted boxers or a free baller?
Fitted boxes and I free ball at night in bed. Free the balls! It’s the best!
